Psychotherapist / Counselling in London N6 / N8

WHAT WE MIGHT WORK WITH:

"My working definition of psychoanalysis is that it's the disciplined study of whatever it is people do not want to know about themselves." Warren S. Poland

I work with people experiencing the effects of many different issues, which may be labelled as poor self-esteem, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, eating and body image issues, identity and relational problems, effectively a dis-ease with life.

I have gained in-depth experience of these specific areas and also have long-standing experience of many issues around addiction. I am very aware of the pain and confusion that addiction can cause, including for family members and close friends.

I have ongoing experience of the value of talking to a trained, empathic and confidential ‘other'. I believe that great changes can happen by working within a therapeutic relationship; in this work, you may build upon the resources that you may find you already have, or facilitate the growth of new skills and capacities yet to be found; that in this supportive, honest and thoughtful relationship, creative growth is possible.

I also have experience working in the area of psychosis. Being part of the clinical team at the 'The Psychosis Therapy Project' who work with people who experience severe mental illness. The project offers long-term psychotherapy, giving time and space to articulate distressing experiences, to those who are often only offered medication.

I have an interest in the arts. My studies and practice in psychoanalysis combined with art practice informed my doctoral research.

You may have wondered about some of the concerns below which we can work with:

At work and at home, when communication breaks down and there is a general lack of intimacy, where partners are frequently stressed, anxious and may be arguing constantly with each other, there is usually a deeper issue that is causing these symptoms.
